Last night the Oakland Athletics got off to a start to the series against the Yankees with a 6-2 win. It was a tremendous effort by Homer Bailey, as he had his best start I can remember in a very long time. He’s had his moments aboard a wreck the last couple of years, but not a minute such as this against a team with as much power since the Yankees have.
Bailey allowed only 1 earned runs across 5.2 innings, and the bullpen completed the load as well. Even the Athletics got out into an early lead and rode that lead during the match. Kudos to the A’s crime for hitting a rather good pitcher in Domingo German.
German was tagged for 2 hits and 5 earned runs in 5.1 innings. Jonathan Loaisiga was powerful for 2.2 innings, but the Yankees’ bats neglected to assemble a comeback. We were waiting for the Yankees to acquire one inning and set up a struggle. But that never arrived along with the Athletics got a significant success. There isn’t much time for losing games today for the A’s.
Oakland are located in the middle of a tight wildcard fight with the Rays. They’re neck and neck together. Past Rays and the A’s, there is not anything to speak of. Even the Red Sox come back by six matches, so their opportunities are slipping away but not completely dead.
If things hold from the American League, cleveland would be hosting the Wild Card Game in Progressive Field. Night presents a second game for the Athletics. Mike Fiers, one of the most underrated pitchers in baseball today, will spin the ball for the Athletics. J.A. is predicted to counter for the Yankees. Head under for our free Yankees vs. Athletics pick.

It has finally paid off in a huge way for the Athletics, although the trade for Mike Fiers flew without attention. You would be able to find some teams out there who need they’d have paid more attention to Fiers. With Fiers, the Yankees might have gone instead of James Paxton last calendar year.
It was not since Fiers was using a lousy season, although the A’s didn’t reach the postseason at 2019. Fiers has had a consistent arm . He also posted a 3.56 ERA between Detroit and Oakland last year. He is on pace for a end this year as well. Fiers goes to Wednesday with a 3.46 ERA and 1.11 WHIP.
Fiers is currently coming off a performance against the Astros. He was struck for 6 hits and 5 earned runs due to his worst start of this year. Despite that, the Athletics were able to notch a 7-6 win over Fiers and the Astros forced it 18 unbeaten games in a row. That was the first game Fiers enabled over 3 runs in home since the season opener on March 20th at Japan. He has been better than many pitchers from the Yankees, since he has been good holding them to some .245 batting average at plate appearances.
J.A. Happ of the Yankees has failed to discover much consequences in 2019. He’s been slipping back after submitting an ERA of 4.18 a year past. This was the very first season that Happ had an ERA above 4.00 since 2015 with the Mariners. And in 2019he will probably have an ERA over 5.00 for the first time because 2011 at Houston.
In his last 3 starts, Happ has been inconsistent with a 6.89 ERA along with 1.53 WHIP. He has also allowed 4 or 4 runs in a few of the past five outings. Together with the reduction the Yanks are in their last 26 games in Oakland. The A’s are hungry in your home against a worthy opponent and probably look like the group who need it again tonight.
